TRAMPER #1 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS Artists's narrative: This was donePrint size: 17" x 11" This is a freight ship from the time before shipping containers, when thousands of hand loaded vessels roamed the oceans, some of them buying up goods in port and seeking markets for them in distant lands. Those vessels were known as tramp steamers, and there are still some in operation today. Tom Crestodina, an Alaskan fisherman, began making cutaway drawings in 2011 to connect with his young son, Franio, while he was out at sea.
